Lexus Hybrid

Lexus is truly the epitome of Japanese luxury as the brand offers it all from plushness and quality, to capability and reliability.

The company is also known for being a trendsetter in research and development, which is why it has numerous electric cars in its catalog.

These include mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and even an all-electric vehicle.

Hybrid cars are more efficient than their gasoline counterparts as they have one or more electric motors working alongside the car’s engine.
Many also buy hybrids as a stepping stone to pure electric vehicles.

The Lexus UX comes exclusively as a hybrid while the NX, LS, RX, ES, and LC have hybrid options on the menu.

There’s also a battery-electric vehicle available in the form of the all-new RZ.

The following piece takes a look at all these vehicles – their powertrains to be specific.

2023 ES Hybrid

The Lexus ES is a midsize luxury sedan with several engine options on the menu. The 2023 ES Hybrid is a masterpiece of a vehicle that ticks all the boxes.

Its highlight is the 2.5-liter engine that churns out 215 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. It gives the hybrid ES a 0-60 time of less than 8 seconds.

Of course, its main selling point is the fuel economy, which is rated at 43 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.

2023 LS Hybrid

The Lexus LS is the crown jewel of the company’s excellent range of vehicles. It is a full-size sedan and so it exists in the segment with the most competition.

Nonetheless, it does pretty well and its diverse engine options have something to do with this.

The 2023 Lexus LS Hybrid or LS500h features a 3.5-liter V6 hybrid engine that makes 354 hp and 221 lb-ft. It also has an amazing 0-60 mph time of just 5.2 seconds.

The EPA rates this powerhouse at 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway – stellar numbers for a sedan of this size.

2023 LC Hybrid

The Lexus LC is one of the coolest and most exclusive premium sports cars on the planet.

It is known for its fiery V8 engine but there’s also the 2023 LC Hybrid if you are looking for something a bit greener.

Known as the LC500h, it comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 354 horsepower and 363 pound-feet. It takes just around 4.5 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill.

Despite the ultra-high performance, the Lexus LC Hybrid does remarkably well as a fuel efficient car. It does 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

2023 NX Hybrid

The Lexus NX is one of the newest yet best-selling Lexus crossovers ever.

One of the reasons for this is the amazing set of powertrains that it offers – two of them being the 2023 NX Hybrid.

We first have a 2.5-liter engine found under the hood of the 2023 Lexus NX350h. It has a mild hybrid setup that produces a total of 240 horsepowers and 167 torques.
You can expect it to deliver up to 24 mpg combined.

But maybe you’re looking for a PHEV – the 2023 NX has you covered as well.

The second hybrid engine is a 2.5-liter plug-in setup that you can find on the 2023 NX450h+ variants. It makes 304 hp and 167 lb-ft, taking about 6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph.

The Lexus NX Hybrid can also tow quite well for its size at 2000 pounds.

2023 RX Hybrid

The Lexus RX is the OG premium crossover and is one of the most versatile offerings in the market.

Like the aforementioned NX, it too offers several RX Hybrid models.

The first is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 246 hp and 233 lb-ft – it’s available on the 2023 RX350h models.

The EPA says that it can do up to 37 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

For more juice, you can get the RX500h F Sport Performance, which offers a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid engine. It produces 367 hp and 406 lb-ft, doing 0-60 mph in just 5.6 seconds.

This one is rated for 27 mpg city and 28 highway – great numbers for such a high-performing vehicle.

The maximum towing capacity on the Lexus RX Hybrid is 3500 lbs.

2023 UX Hybrid

The 2023 Lexus UX is exclusively offered as a hybrid vehicle for this year. This is the smallest Lexus crossover available, but with a lot of personality.

It has a 2-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine that produces 181 horsepower and 133 pound-feet. It offers a decent acceleration time of around 8.5 seconds from 0 to 62 mph.

It has a maximum towing capacity of 1650 lbs.

The fuel economy is one of the best in class, as it can do up to 43 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.

2023 RZ All-Electric

Lexus also offers an all-electric vehicle in its catalog. The 2023 RZ was launched this year and has made headlines for its futuristic design and capabilities.
The RZ450e comes with a 65.6-kWh battery pack that works in unison with an electric motor to make 308 hp and 320 lb-ft.

As you can see, it’s a powerful setup that can propel the Lexus RZ from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. It can also pull a trailer weighing up to 1650 lbs.

Getting to the main course, the RZ is estimated to provide you up to 220 miles of pure electric driving range. The combined fuel economy stands at a respectable 95 MPGe.

It comes with a 6.6-kW onboard charger and you can also opt for DC fast charging, which will charge it from 10 to 90% in about 86 minutes.
